- Reading an unknown material with the appropriate phrase (sight-reading).
- Diatonic- (major, minor, harmonic and melodic moll), pentatonic scales, as well as their practices
- Developed improvisation for four different pieces:
- a ballad (free, cadence-type elaborate introduction, formatting the subject, improvising, and then improvised cadence at the end of the piece).
- a medium-tempo’s piece (theme presentation, improvisation and “squaring” on the drum).
- for a fast tempo’s piece (theme presentation, improvisation with rhythm accompaniment, improvisation with orchestral accompaniment).
- as well as the presentation of an oddly pulsating piece.
- Five transcription of the repertoire, the transcription selected by the selection board, along with the original recording. Two copies of the improvisation recorded by the applicant must be submitted to the selection board
- Performance of approx. 40 popular jazz standards as a repertoire, from memory, in original harmonization – theme and improvisation. The orchestral accompaniment is provided by the recruitment committee, but the candidate must be able to take a suitable track.
